PROGRAMS & TESTING

Ice Skating Queensland is proud to offer the following programs and initiatives to support the development of skaters in the disciplines of Figure Skating and Synchronized Skating.

ISQ Accelerate Program

The Accelerate Program is targeted towards accelerating the progression of motivated, young skaters from Free Skate levels through to Elementary divisions. We wish to increase the number of young skaters entering into Preliminary competitions and see a stronger retention of these skaters progressing to Basic Novice. The Accelerate Program will consist of two-weekly sessions on Thursdays and Saturdays, and follow our Aussie Skate™ School term dates.

ISQ High Performance Program

The High Performance Program is an invite-only program for national-level skaters from Basic Novice through to Senior divisions. The program is designed to complement skaters training and elevate their performance with both on and off-ice components all geared towards athletes achieving higher technical elements and scoring. The High Performance program is a 16-week program that runs in the first half of the season only.

Athlete Development Camps & Seminars

Ice Skating Queensland offers development camps and seminars on an ad hoc basis. These offerings typically coincide with an internationally acclaimed coach or athlete visiting Australia. In 2023, we were honoured to host Kurt Browning and Alissa Czisny.

ISA Testing

Figure skating tests are a way for skaters to assess their abilities and progress to higher levels. Tests are available in a variety of areas including singles, pairs and ice dance. Skaters must pass each test before moving on to the next level. Competitive skaters are required to participate in the ISA testing structure in order to compete at each level of competition. For example, to compete in a Basic Novice division, a Skater must have passed all applicable Basic Novice tests.

ISQ, with thanks to the dedication of volunteer Judges, provides Testing opportunities year-round.
